Printing Part of Essential Services , Covid-19
QUEENS PARK—
Ontario and Quebec are closing all non essential business because of the Covid-19 pandemic . Only essential services will be allowed to stay open and those companies that supply them. Packaging and direct mail have been named directly and because the printing industry supplies almost all of the business listed as essential, it is assumed all printers are included . PrintCAN has received notices from a lot of printers telling their customers they will be remaining open.
Some of the wording from the Ontario Government that would apply to the printing industry include: For the purposes of this order, businesses include any-for-profit, non-profit or other entity providing the goods and services described herein.
Supply chains 1. Businesses that supply other essential businesses or essential services with the support, supplies, systems or services, including processing, packaging, distribution, delivery and maintenance necessary to operate;
Manufacturing and Production
19. Businesses that extract, manufacture, process and distribute goods, products, equipment and materials, including businesses that manufacture inputs to other manufacturers (e.g. primary metal/ steel, blow molding, component manufacturers, chemicals, etc. that feed the end-product manufacturer);
Communications Industries
43. Newspaper publishers;
63. Businesses providing mailing, shipping, courier and delivery services, including post office boxes;
