Workers locked out of Solisco's Ottawa printing plant
OTTAWA—Workers have been locked out of Solisco's Ottawa printing facility by a bailiff who has seized the premises, PrintCAN has learned.

The bailiff's note addresses Solisco's Ottawa location as Tri-Graphics Printing at 465-485 Industrial Ave. The letter explains the company is more than $197,000 behind on payments owing to the landlord.

The bailiff's note, dated Aug. 29, states that Solisco has five days to pay back rent and bailiff-related fees – a combined amount of more than $209,000 – or the goods (chattels) within the building will be appraised and sold.

The main phone line at Solisco Ottawa was being rerouted Friday afternoon to one of Solisco's three Quebec locations. A woman who answered the phone said the Ottawa facility "has not been shut down. It's temporarily closed until the 15th of September."

The woman referred PrintCAN to Luc Lamirande, Solisco's chief financial officer, for further comment. Lamirande did not return a voicemail by end of the business day on Friday.

A PrintCAN source said the staff was on a two-week summer shutdown at the start of July, which extended until Sept. 1, the day when workers showed up only to be greeted by the bailiff's notice.

This is not the first time the Tri-Graphic Printing location has experienced troubles. In August 2009, Tri-Graphic filed for bankruptcy and the same day, the court approved a sale of the majority of Tri-Graphic's assets to a subsidiary of Imprimerie Solisco.

Yes, but the machines are still in there(not that there is much left). They only took the paper, computers, a unit on the M300 and some other stuff. They'll get to keep to keep their uniforms. LOL!

Too bad it was not before Solisco took what they wanted out of the building.
