MOSINEE WISCONSIN—  Ahlstrom announced that the company is right-sizing the Mosinee Wisconsin site. This includes closing the pulp mill and two older paper machines this year, while upgrading the two remaining paper machines. Ahlstrom has also announced the initiation of a formal consultation process concerning the potential closure of the Radcliffe (UK) site. The closure of two paper machines and pulp mill in Mosinee is due to rising costs and limited automation, according to WSAW. The move will affect approximately 200 employees, which represents half of the current staff. Announcements about paper mill shutdowns has become a regular  occurrence with Stora Enso, Canford, Island Papers , Arjowiggins, UPM, International Paper, Smurfit Westrock and Domtar have announced mill or machine shut downs in the last several years.
