PCT Enters Insolvency
HOFHEIM, GERMANY—
PCT Maschinenbau makes Polar cutting systems on behalf of brand owner Heidelberg is set to enter creditor protection. PCT is owned by SOL Capital and employees about 240 people. Heidelberg acquired the brand name, patents, intellectual property and service business of machinery specialist Polar last year.
SOL previously acquired the then-Polar group of companies out of bankruptcy protection in February 2023, after the business was hit by supply chain delays for critical components the prior year. Heidelberg said that no Heidelberg entity was involved with the insolvency proceedings. Polar was largest world manufacture of cutters to the printing industry. Polar was sold under the Mohr brand. In 2022 Polar filed for creditor protection and in 2025 the Polar Mohr brand was sold to Heidelberg.
