iB17 “cost-efficient production” on runs of up to 20,000sqm
 Canon has entered the industrial corrugated printing market with a new high-volume inkjet machine.The iB17 prints directly onto corrugated boards up to 1,700mm wide and 1,300mm in length, initially in CMYK and with orange, violet and green to come in future. Substrate thickness is from 1mm to 8mm.The corrPress iB17 uses water-based inks that are printed on top of a primer so no special coating is required.

There is also no need for the primer layer to be dried, with printing taking place immediately after primer is applied. The inks are suitable for indirect food contact. For applications such as short-run, versioned and fast-turnaround jobs as well as for “cost-efficient production” on runs of up to 20,000sqm. Top speed is 8,000sqm/hr with Canon stating the iB17 is capable of producing 15m/sqm of output per year. Linear speed is 80m/min.
