Transcontinental Saint-Hyacinthe Plant Is Closing.
SAINT-HYACINTHE , QUEBEC—
"Nearly 200 employees in Saint-Hyacinthe, Que. will lose their jobs in the coming weeks, with Transcontinental announced that it's closing its plant. The move came as a result of the company replacing the Publisac flyer service with the "raddar" foldedflyer. It said the new product reduces the volume of paper used.Transcontinental scrapped Publisac the flyer bundles that is distributed to 2.5 million households in Quebec as part of a shift to a thin leaflet delivered by Canada Post.
Montreal had put in place new rules that ban the delivery of advertising flyers to homes unless the homeowners signal they want to receive them. The company says it will gradually reduce operations at the plant, with a complete closure scheduled in April. The plant’s work will be gradually transferred to the company’s other plants, mainly the one in Montreal’s Anjou borough. Transcontinental has also announced the closure of its recycling plant in Montreal and a packaging plant in Wisconsin.

So sad for my friends in St Hy. Great people. Enjoyed working with them, when I was with TC. Hoping for the best for all of them.
