Blanchette Press big winners in Sappi Awards
BOSTON—Blanchette Press is the big Canadian winner with five awards in the 14th Sappi North American Printers of the Year Competition.

Blanchette Press in Richmond, B.C. earned a silver in the general and magazines-sheet categories along with bronzes in brochures, annual reports, and promotion.

Other multiple-award winners from Canada are Hemlock Printers based in Burnaby, B.C. with a silver in calendars and digital, along with a bronze in catalogues. Somerset Graphics in Mississauga, Ont. won a silver award in the magazines-sheet category and a bronze in the same category, and C.J. Graphics in Etobicoke, Ont. won a silver and bronze in brochures.

Other Canadian printers winning a silver include Custom Printers in the annual reports category and Quatro Card Technology for catalogs. St. Joseph Communications won a bronze in the magazines-web category.

Sappi Fine Paper North America offers the awards program, which recognizes "print excellence and innovation" using Sappi papers.
 
The silver and bronze award recipients in each category were chosen from a field of more than 2,100 entries, according to Sappi. The silver award recipients are now eligible to win a gold award (to be announced June 7) and up to $20,000 to support marketing initiatives, and a chance to compete in the 2012 International Printers of the Year Award.
