Transcontinental revenue up for first quarter 2011
MONTRÉAL—Transcontinental’s revenue went up 3.6% for its first quarter ended January 31, 2011.

It credits the increase to $530 million from $511.6 million for the same period last year in large part to a number of new printing contracts at the company. This includes its expanded relationship with The Globe and Mail and an increase in its work for the Local Solutions Group, which includes distribution and newspaper publishing operations at Transcontinental.

All told, printing made up 66% of Transcontinental’s revenue in the first quarter of 2011.

Net income remained steady for the quarter at $26.2 million.
