Remembering Lorne Patterson
MISSISSAUGA—All of us at PrintCAN and Graphic Monthly Canada are saddened to report the sudden death of our columnist and friend Lorne Patterson. Lorne had written the Print Manager column in Graphic Monthly for several years. We will miss his professionalism, his friendship and his sense of humour.
Lorne suffered a fatal heart attack yesterday at his holiday retreat in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. He was 61.
Lorne ran Patterson + Associates, consulting with senior management and operating staff at printing companies around the world. Prior to that, he had enjoyed a lengthy career with Bowne Canada, where he retired as managing director, financial print Canada, in 2006.
He joined the BCPIA Board of Directors in 1996 and served as chairman from 2001-2003. In 2009 Lorne received the CPIA Award of Merit in British Columbia. Lorne Patterson was also a past vice-chairman of the CPIA board of directors, served as treasurer on the board of directors of the Craft Council of BC and was also a director of the quality council of B.C.
The BCPIA is making arrangements for a celebration of Lorne's life. Details will be posted on PrintCAN as soon as they are available.
