Ontario mill idles two paper machines
SAULT STE. MARIE, ON—St. Marys Paper has temporarily shut down two of its three paper machines, and laid off 60 workers as a result. The curtailment is expected to last about a month, and is part of inventory-related downtime at the mill.
St. Marys produces 240,000 tonnes of supercalendered paper annually, under the trade names Sequel, Sequence, and Synpress, for use in magazines, flyers, and catalogues. The mill employs more than 300 people.
