One Manufacture Left For Violet CTP Plates
—
Commercial printers still using violet CTP will soon be down to a sole supplier of suitable plates for their systems. Fujifilm will cease taking new orders for its Pro-V violet plate for commercial print applications in February. The commercial print market for violet plates has declined as printers switch to thermal CTP systems. Fujifilm is phasing out supply of its Pro-V violet plates for commercial print in 2023.
It will continue to supply violet plates for newspaper printing – a much larger market. The Fujifilm decision leaves Agfa Offset as the last major supplier of violet plates for that part of the market, with its N95-VCF product.Kodak has a violet plate but it is not limited availability . Agfa also has a substantial ongoing business in violet plates for newspapers.

Agfa used to try and tell/sell people on Violet being superior to Thermal. Most that understood the technology understood that was in no way true. Feel sorry for anyone who bought into this. Seems fitting though that Agfa will be the last supplier. I imagine they have some customers who won't forget!
