Another Web Plant Closing
QUEBEC CITY—
The Journal of Quebec announces the closure of its printing plant. The daily will now be printed in Mirabel, where the The Journal of Montreal is printed. Quebecor’s two daily newspapers will now be printed on the same presses in the same place. The closure of the Québec cold set web printing plant, which had been established in the Vanier sector for more than 50 years, led to the layoff of 21 employees.
The presses are scheduled to cease printing on February 4. The Journal of Quebec will now be fully printed in colour with the newer presses at the Mirable plant. The Journal de Québec has announced that all operations and equipment at the Quebec printing plant will be sold to Quebecor Media Printing Inc. in the coming weeks.
