West Star's Wind Down Is The End of An Era
TORONTO—
West Star Trade Prints appears to be in final wind down. West Star is the last of the mega Toronto trade printers who dominated the Ontario landscape for 20 to 30 years. With sales in the $30 to $40 million range and headset webs, multiple 40' sheetfed presses. Trade Secrets and Point One collapsed during the pandemic . West Star sold off its heat set webs over a year ago. Earlier this year they sold their 145,000 sq.ft plant for a reported $42 million.
Industry sources said they sold their sheet fed and bindery equipment to a dealer. West Star at one time had over 150 employees. Equipment included three heatset webs , multiple 40" sheetfed presses 8 , 10 & 12 colours, multiple stickers and a perfect binder. Also included wide format and digital presses . Multiple attempts by PrintCAN to confirm the final wind down of West Star was not answered by the owners . The end of the mega trade printers era has come to an end.
