Arjowiggins British Paper Mills Go Bankrupt
SCOTLAND—
A complete shut down and sale of assets looks the most likely outcome for Arjowiggins’ British paper mills. Arjowiggins paper mills both Stoneywood paper mill near Aberdeen and the Chartham mill in Kent both when into creditor protection ( administration) a month ago. The closing date for offers in the sale of the businesses passed on October 14th.
While the joint administrators will continue to look for buyers, this will now be alongside the site wind-down strategy and the sale of assets on a piecemeal basis . The Arjo businesses employed 463 people in Britain, and 368 were made let go immediately at the time of creditor protection. Arjowiggins manufactured writing papers, text and covers , digital papers , label stock , security papers and translucent papers. Some of the grades were sold into the Canadian market . Most notable was Conquer writing, text and cover.
