Transcontinental -Packaging Up, Printing Down

Still Canada's largest printer by over a billion dollars
|
Transcontinental revenues decreased by $141.5 million, or 19.4%, from $728.9 million in the third quarter of 2019 to $587.4 million in the corresponding period of 2020. The Packaging Sector, benefiting from a significant increase in volume in several segments supporting the retail supply chain for food and everyday consumer products, and despite the impact on revenues of lower raw material costs, generated solid organic growth of $6.7 million.

Printing Sector, mostly due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to the impact of the disposal of the paper packaging operations ($67.4 million). The sale of the specialty media assets and event planning activities also contributed to this decrease
Transcontinental is listed by Graphic Monthly as Canada's largest printer with over 9,000 employees, the majority of which are based in Canada, the United States and Latin America. Transcontinental had been shifting from a printing to packaging company over the last several years.
