PIA & SGIA Merger Becomes the Association With No Name
FAIRFAX , VIRGINIA—
The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) and Printing Industries of America (PIA) have officially merge. Despite the fact that this merger has been in the works since February the new association has no name. SGIA primarily serves the graphics, industrial and apparel decorator segments; and PIA primarily serves the commercial printing segment. The Canadian regional associations , Ontario Printing & Imaging Association, Manitoba Print Industry Association and Printforward Printing & Imaging Association are all affiliates of Printing Industries of America .
They will become affiliates of the new no name association. Were things get complicated is the Canadian regional associations make up the board if directors of the Canadian Printing Industries Association which is not part of SGIA or PIA. How the new no name association will impact the Canadian Industry is still to be determined . Ford Bowers of SGIA has become President and CEO of the combined organization. Michael Makin, past President and CEO of Printing Industries of America, has become an Executive Vice President of the unified organization . The new association name will be announced in the coming weeks, as will the combined board of directors.
