SaltWire Networks, Atlantic Canada's largest printing and publishing company  has launched a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Transcontinental over its of  acquisition of their  newspapers and printing plants in Eastern Canada .SaltWire Network Inc. had acquired 28 Atlantic publications in 2017,

including the Cape Breton Post, The Guardian in P.E.I., and The Telegram in St. John’s, N.L. The deal also included three printing plants and added to SaltWire’s existing holdings, which included the Halifax Chronicle Herald. SaltWire  alleging the deal was made based on inaccurate and inflated numbers. They claims Transcontinental  overstated revenues, hid  facts about the condition of the assets and was not forthcoming  of questionable business practices.
