Holland & Crosby installs an Inca Onset X3, two Kongsberg C64 tables
MISSISSAUGA—Holland & Crosby Limited, a Missisauga-based print provider, has installed an Inca Onset X3 flatbed press. The installation was completed the by FUJIFILM North America Corporation, graphic systems division and according to Holland, it’s the first North American install of the Onset X3.
“Surviving in retail is extremely difficult, and we have the ability to turn jobs very quickly so we can always say ‘yes’ to our customers,” Holland & Crosby’s Richard Labiuk, said.
The Onset X3 press is capable of printing 9,688 sq. ft. per hour and features 3 x CMYK ink channels plus the choice of white or orange and 14-picolitre printheads.
The company has also invested in two Esko Kongsberg C64 finishing tables to keep up with its new press. One of the tables has been outfitted with automation on the front end, the other with a router and an adaptor for roll stock. The C64 is a super-wide (126”x126”) digital finisher that produces productivity over ten feet, because of its carbon-composite transverse beam. Esko says its the only super-wide finisher with a 3kW continuous duty high-performance milling unit.
"The Kongsberg C64 was the best combination of the things we were looking for," Scott Crosby, Holland & Crosby vp, sales and marketing, said. "It offered us quality, speed, reliability and a vision going forward. We are ultimately looking for lights-out automation. We want to be able to shut off our lights, feed a full skid of material, and return in the morning with cut, unstripped product. Esko is working hard to get there for us. We were also looking for local service, and it was very important for us that Esko has service in area. We don't have the time to be down."
Holland & Crosby was recently in the news for acquiring Colormark Limited, a Mississauga-based screen printing company. The 80-year-old company is hosting an Innovation Gala Open House today (May 4) and May 5 from 4pm to 8pm.
