manroland's Evolution wins Red Dot Award
SINGAPORE—manroland’s ROLAND 700 Evolution press is the winner of a 2015 Red Dot Award for product design.  Launched at the end of 2014, the 700 features an ergonomic operating user interface with touch-screen controls, Direct Drive technology, and feeder, delivery and dampening units specially designed for high-speed production.

The Red Dot Awards is an international celebration of design concepts and prototypes held annually in Singapore.  Almost 5,000 entries were received from 56 countries. The jury was made up of designers, academics and journalists from 25 countries. Judges were impressed by the Evolution’s sleek and futuristic look and technology aimed at giving printers unprecedented levels of efficiency, operation and quality.

“We are naturally thrilled to have won this award,” manroland CEO Rafael Penuela said. “Printing presses are not usually recognized for their design. It’s a tribute to our team here in Germany who conceived, developed and launched the Evolution in just two years.”

In a letter to the company, Red Dot founder and president, Professor Dr. Peter Zec said manroland showed uncompromising competency and considerable courage. “You have measured yourself successfully against the best in the industry,” he said.
