Webcom hires new sales and marketing director
TORONTO—Book printer Webcom has hired Robert Hayashi as its new director of sales and marketing. He will lead the national sales, marketing and customer service divisions and is tasked with transforming the book publishing programs at the company.
His primary role will be to build strategic partnerships with publishers, helping them transform their printing practices via Webcom's digital inkjet program.
Over the last few years Webcom has made a significant investment in its inkjet printing capabilities including a couple of HP T-series continuous feed production inkjet presses. The investment, including the presses, exceeded $25 million.
"This is a significant hiring as we look toward to the future of book manufacturing," says Mike Collinge, Webcom CEO. "As our company continues to make large-scale investments in new and progressive printing technologies, we depend on the experience, vision and ability of our leadership team to address the challenges in our industry and provide profit enhancing solutions for our North American publishers."
Hayashi's track record includes a variety of senior management and executive functions, with a strong background in building strategic business partnerships. His experience as the inaugural president and CEO of eBound Canada gives him significant insight into digital strategy for Canadian publishers, say the company. He also held the position of vice president of publishing at Indigo Books & Music.
