Ryerson University honours printing students
TORONTO—Students from Ryerson University's Graphic Communications Management (GCM) program were celebrated at the program's annual awards night, held November 7 at the Heidelberg Centre.
The special ceremony was hosted by GCM chair Ian Baitz, and students Jessica Luong and Matthew Cowle.
Scholarship recipients (previously announced in September and October) were acknowledged, including David Vega, who received the Warren Wilkins Prestige Scholarship valued at $5,000, and Emily Wong, whose EDSF scholarship and special OutputLinks Communications Group scholarship honouring Andrew Tribute totals $4,500.
Among the award winners were Tabrina Loch-Williams, who won the PAC Award of Excellence for overall standing in all three first-year GRA courses; Ashley Lombardo and Emily Wong, winners of the inaugural Paper Packaging Alliance Award; Alysha Eggett, awarded the Kempenfelt Graphics prize for work in variable data technology and cross media; Trung Nguyen, who took home the Mary Black Leadership Award; and many more.
Industry sponsors handing out awards included Kempenfelt, C.J. Graphics, Schawk Canada, Xplor Central Chapter, the College & University Print Management Association of Canada, Muller Martini, Manroland Canada, Mary Black Recruitment, and G&K Services.
