Heidelberg and Fujifilm partner in inkjet
TORONTO—Fujifilm and Heidelberg have teamed with eyes on mutual growth in the commercial and packaging inkjet markets, specifically the development of "next-generation" products.
The alliance means Heidelberg gains access to Fujifilm's inkjet technology while Fujifilm is positioned to leverage Heidelberg's engineering and manufacturing expertise.
"Fujifilm and Heidelberg have led the printing industry in each domain," said Fujifilm chairman and chief executive officer Shigetaka Komori in a company release. Komori said Heidelberg's global presence means Fujifilm products can find new customer groups, and Heidelberg's manufacturing "know-how" will help drive further innovations in the world of digital printing.
Gerold Linzbach, chief executive officer of Heidelberg, said Fujifilm's prepress capabilities and inkjet tech will help Heidelberg build on the digital printing experience it gained through other partnerships. "It is our goal to also become a global player in the growing digital printing applications market…Within three years we envision a sales potential for Heidelberg in the digital business of more than € 200 million (approximately $281 million)," he said.
