PDI Sherbrooke plant closing: reports
SHERBROOKE, QC—PDI's printing facility in Sherbrooke, Quebec, has closed down and put at least 30 employees out of work according to French media reports. The closure comes less than three years after PDI brought the plant out of receivership.
On June 3, Cyberpresse.ca reported the plant closure was imminent and the union was undertaking legal steps to protect money owed to employees.
Denis Beaudin, representing the union, did not return a call for comment and PDI did not return a call or email from PrintCAN.
PDI announced in late 2008 it was reopening the plant after it purchased all of the assets of Grafikom - Sherbrooke, formerly known as Graphica. Grafikom shut down in November, 2008, after declaring bankruptcy.
