Canadian Printing Industries awards over $73,000 in scholarships
OTTAWA—OTTAWA—The Canadian Printing Industries Scholarship Trust Fund has awarded a total of $73,750 in scholarship funding for this year, the highest amount awarded since 2003.
A total of $41,250 was awarded to 30 new students enrolled in
the first year of an approved course of study. A further $32,500 was
provided to twenty six (26) continuing students already enrolled in the scholarship program.
The value of each annual scholarship is $1,250, though students exhibiting a high level of talent are eligible for a Warren Wilkins Prestige Scholarship with a value of $5,000. The Board of Trustees has awarded one such scholarship to Sarah Flynn of Nanaimo, B.C., who will be attending the British Columbia Institute of Technology beginning in September in the Graphic Communications Program, according to a press release.
The Canadian Printing Industries Scholarship Trust Fund (CPISTF) was initiated in 1971 through the efforts of a group of printing industry executives. Since then, hundreds of thousands of dollars have been donated to the Fund as a result of the generosity of firms and individuals associated with printing industries in Canada. The Fund exists exclusively for the benefit of printing industries in Canada.
All scholarship applicants must be enrolled in or plan to be enrolled in a full-time two, three or four year approved program and exhibit a commitment to pursue a career in the printing industry. For additional information on the Fund and a list of current donors go to www.cpia-aci.ca.
