RR Donnelley to buy Bowne & Co.
CHICAGO, IL—RR Donnelley announced this morning it's buying New York-based Bowne & Co. in a deal estimated to be worth about US$481 million.
Bowne operates six locations in Canada, which are included in the deal. Not all the locations include printing operations and in recent years Bowne has deliberately played down its printing focus, positioning itself as a company that manages shareholder and marketing communications.
While Bowne no longer breaks out its Canadian sales, it was ranked number 16 in 2006, on Graphic Monthly's list of the largest printers in Canada with revenues of $110 million.
