Transcontinental Closing Brampton Plant
MONTREAL—
Transcontinental has announced the closure of it's Brampton plant at the end of December 2019.The closure of Transcontinental Brampton, located at 138 East Drive, in Brampton, Ontario, will take place in two phases. Starting July 7, 2019, only one of the two presses will remain in operation, resulting in the permanent layoff of about 60 production and support employees. As for the approximately 65 production and support employees who will still be employed after this date,
they will continue to work on the remaining press until the plant closure.There will be a transfer of activities from the Brampton primarily to Transcontinental RBW Graphics and Transcontinental Vaughan in Ontario, as well as to Transcontinental Transmag in Québec. Transcontinental has made acquisitions in the packaging field and pulling back from the commercial printing and publishing field.

surprised it was not closed down a decade ago

Only the employees. This plant has made hundreds of Millions over the years but received no investment. This allowed the company to invest in newer plants like Vaughn. Sad they are losing the experience and talent from Brampton.
