Thunder bay mill sold to Superior Fine Papers
THUNDER BAY, ON—Thunder Bay Fine Papers has been sold to a group of investors known as Superior Fine Papers Inc. for an undisclosed amount. According to the new owners, the mill will be up and running in a matter of weeks, and will be the only coated free sheet mill in Canada, producing brands like Jenson Plus, Thunder Gloss, Route 88, and coated and uncoated postal reply card products. Thunder Bay Fine Papers was placed in receivership in November, and put up for sale because it owed more than $20 million to creditors. Provincial, Abitibi, and Cascades have all owned the mill in the past.
